I'm done building the strakes, but remember that I used a pattern for the wing leading edge back in Part I. See the pink foam picture about 1/2 way down through this subsection. Now it was time to check and see if the results were close enough to make a good blend of the wing to strake leading edge..
Wing Support Rig:
I made an adjustable wing support rig , to hold the wing in position while I bolted it to the spar. In earlier times I had helpers hold the wing, but that's not practical any more and this will have to be done and un-done quite a few times in the future. I made it with left over wood I had laying around (cedar 4x4's and some 2x3 pine) and 3 trailer jacks from Harbor Freight. It's plenty strong, but no-where near as nice as Bernie's version: See his Ch 19, Section 12A on his site. Note that I have to deal both with an uneven ground surface and the pitch, roll, yaw angles and overall height of the wing when doing the alignment... self leveling laser and clear waterline markings on spar/fuselage really help. VIDEO: Here's the page with video of us using the support rig/trolley much later after I'd primer coated everything... click here.

To make a good 3 legged wing support... Preston Kavanagh made a really nice one of these and has made available an excel sheet with some photos and cutting dimensions for the pieces. Here's that file if viewer is interested. THANKS Preston.
